Court Time

Talk about Raquetball, Squash, Handball and other Racket Court type sports

Anyway,
I'm 2 matches into the Summer Racquetball League at The Big C.

I played Brad first a trainer at the gym and lost 2 games to 1
Game 1; I was up most of the game and ended up loosing it on a couple of service aces
Game 2; was a close game and lasted a long time. He was up most of the game and I came back took the lead and then lost it 15-13
Game 3; I put my nose to the grind stone and won 15-8 if I remember correctly.
Brad is in very good shape, I was running him all over the court and he would somehow get to the ball almost every time.

Match 2 was against Mike the Sales guy for The Big C. I lost 3 games to 0
Game 1; I took an early lead 6 to 0 and then lost 15 to 8
Game 2; took forever to complete. We were stuck 12 to 8 (me) for about 10 volleys
and Mike pulled it out 15 to 10
Game 3; Was close the entire game I took an early lead and was up 8 to 2 then 13 to 6 and Mike won 15 to 13 on one service ace drive serve and one lob serve to volley to kill shot.

I felt great earlier in the day I went to the gym at noon and hit a few balls around for 40 mins or so had a light lunch but then at 4 pm I started to crash. I've been waking up at 4 am every morning for some reason so I think that took it's toll. Mike was definitely a better player but I think I could have taken at least 1 of the games.

The USA Junior Nationals are being hosted by the Big C in Cocord, CA this week so no racquetball for the rest of the week as they play from 8 am to 9 pm They have a couple hundred kids playing and last night the gym was packed. Mike and I struggled to get on a court for 30 mins or so.

I'll bring my son to the gym there sometime this week to let him watch some kids play. Some of them are incredible players...I met one kids who's been palying at Nationals since he was 4, won nationals at 6 and been sponsored by Ektelon since he was 6 also. He's now 12 and an A player, top three in the nation for the past 5 years.

Also found a great sight which discusses strategy and has lots of linked to videos etc

So until next week.

I think I play Brook in the League
